The consultation is running during summer holidays. Is there a reason for this because it greatly reduces the potential responses. I would suggest you extend the consultation to allow more people to respond to this extremely important consultation.

Purpose of plan
Should be to explore all possible availability of existing brownfield sites and council owned land. The priority must be to expand towns such as Macclesfield using existing resources rather than trying to create new towns on farmland. There is demand for affordable housing and this should be the priority rather than developers preference for garden villages appealing to those already housed and desiring new large expensive dwellings. CE’s focus must be on targeting social need in areas where infrastructure already exists and not the demands of developers in making money.

The new local plan is an opportunity to make the right decisions for the benefit of CE residents. The credibility of CE will be challenged during this process and it is essential that CE is transparent and listens to residents concerns and opinions. Far too often the council is guilty of ignoring residents opinions and simply going into partnership with the developers because despite the damage this tends to cause it’s the easiest option.
Listen to residents and enable everyone to contribute in a meangful way.

What is CE long term vision? Make a statement that can be held against any future decisions. You’ve provided a list of matters that “can” be considered. This is already a weak approach. There are considerations not on the list such as protecting greenbelt and farmland. An increasing population, climate change, education, care, health and well being are all factors that must be integrated into any decision. Developers like to make glib meaningless statements about the benefits of their oversized developments when the reality is destruction of essential farmland. Our future families will ultimately rely on decisions taken now.
