Local plan scoping consultation

I object to any future proposal to allocate Green Belt land around Ashley and the Tatton Estate for large-scale housing development.
The new Local Plan should prioritise the protection of Cheshire East's Green Belt, which provides an important buffer between settlements, supports biodiversity, contributes to climate resilience and preserves the rural character of the area.

Before any Green Belt land is considered for development, the Council should demonstrate that:

Brownfield and previously developed land has been fully assessed and used wherever possible.
Existing infrastructure, including roads, public transport, schools, GP surgeries, dentists and utilities, can support any additional housing.
Development will not significantly increase congestion, air pollution or flood risk.
Wildlife habitats, mature trees and agricultural land are protected.
Local communities are fully consulted and their views are given significant weight.
The scale of development that has been discussed publicly for the Ashley area would fundamentally change the character of the village and surrounding countryside. Such growth should not proceed unless there is compelling evidence that exceptional circumstances exist and that all reasonable alternatives have been exhausted.
The Local Plan should focus on sustainable growth in appropriate locations, supported by infrastructure delivered in advance of development, while maintaining the openness and environmental value of the Green Belt for future generations.
