I am writing to express my strong objection to proposals for new building development on Green Belt land within Cheshire East.
I believe Green Belt areas should be protected for future generations. They provide vital habitats for wildlife, help reduce the impacts of climate change by storing carbon, improve air quality, and offer important green spaces for local communities.
Building on Green Belt land would lead to the loss of valuable natural habitats and biodiversity at a time when wildlife is already under significant pressure. It would also contribute to increased traffic, pollution, and carbon emissions, which is inconsistent with efforts to tackle global warming.
I understand the need for new homes, but I believe development should be prioritised on brownfield sites and previously developed land before any consideration is given to building on protected Green Belt.
I respectfully ask Cheshire East Council to reject proposals that would result in unnecessary development on Green Belt land and instead focus on sustainable alternatives that protect our environment and wildlife.
