Dear Sir/ Madam,

It has come to my attention that there is a proposed new housing development under review for the land between Blakelow Rd and Buxton Old Rd.

As a resident in the area I strongly oppose this.

The Green Belt needs to be protected and retained for many reasons and new housing on this land will bring a huge loss to the area, residents and nature.

The local planning authority needs to consider the development of brownfield and greenfield sites before considering the development of Green Belt land.

The removal of the Green Belt will have a significant and visual impact on the landscape and the character of the surrounding area of Macclesfield.

The Green Belt is an important buffer and visual transition between the built environment and the open countryside.

The Green Belt protects the landscape, particularly where Green Belt land is topographically elevated and where built development we will be dominant.

There is nature that needs to be protected on the Green Belt and with the worsening climate crisis, removing more natural habitats and natural cooling systems will add to this catastrophe.

As a resident I would like to be informed on the updates of this.
