I have just been looking at the local plan on your website and the possible areas for development.
Some of this development appears to be encroaching on our valuable green belt land. I feel it is important that people can easily access green open space from their houses which is important for their well being and mental health. Brownfield sites should be considered first even if the development cost is higher.
Consideration should be given to the visual impact of such development- sometimes this can have an impact from quite a distance.
Consideration needs to be given to the type of housing proposed. East Cheshire is becoming awash with 3 and 4 bedroom detached houses and unattractive blocks of flats.
As an over 65 myself I am considering downsizing but I do not aspire to a dark flat with small windows, parking a hike away which comes with sky high management fees. I would like a 2 bedroom modern bungalow with a sensible number of solar panels on the roof and an air to air heat source pump. This way it would be well equipped to deal with cold winters and hot summers of the future. I would also like off road parking. I would not object to a communal garden as long as there was a small private space. As far as I am aware this setup does not exist. Until it does I guess I will stay where I am.
I have concerns about how these new developments will be served by buses, doctors, dentists, schools, nurseries, social care, shops, utilities such as water, electricity, sewage disposal etc etc.
In ‘my own backyard’ I have concerns about any development around Leadbeaters Reservoir and Blakelow Road. It is an area of green close by to me reached before ascending steeply into the hills. It is enjoyed by many people living nearby. From Blakelow Road there are beautiful views overlooking Macclesfield. Some people use it as a route to walk up to Teggs Nose. Putting houses on the fields ( some contain springs I think) will remove the view and make it less attractive to walk and people may just stay glued to their armchairs accumulating ill health. I think the same could be said for some of the other sites under consideration.
I hope you will make sensible choices not influenced by the contents of brown envelopes and enticing empty promises.
