Dear Strategic Planning Team,

My husband and I are writing to register our formal objection to any proposal to remove or develop the Green Belt land near Buxton Old Road and Meadow Road we have been made aware of.

We chose to make our home in this area precisely because of its peaceful character and the open green fields that form an essential part of Macclesfield’s landscape and identity. The introduction of new development on this land would materially and permanently alter the setting, with several significant adverse impacts:

• Increased traffic and congestion on already constrained local roads • Loss of the rural tranquillity that defines the area and supports residents’ wellbeing • Detrimental effects on local wildlife habitats and the wider visual environment • Erosion of the Green Belt buffer that prevents unchecked urban sprawl

In addition, we wish to highlight that Macclesfield contains numerous derelict, underused, and previously developed sites that are far more suitable for regeneration. Prioritising these locations would support sustainable development while protecting the countryside and maintaining the integrity of designated Green Belt land.

We respectfully urge the Council to safeguard this area and to focus future growth on existing brownfield opportunities rather than expanding into valued greenfield spaces. Please record this correspondence as a formal objection to any inclusion of this land within the Local Plan review.
