I am emailing with some comments on the scope of the new local plan. My thoughts relate to the preservation of the Green Belt and are as follows:

1. Brownfield and greenfield sites must be considered before developments of Green Belt land;
2. Removal of Green Belt will have a significant and negative visual impact on the landscape and the character of the wonderful surroundings of Macclesfield;
3. The Green Belt is an important buffer and visual transition between the built environment and the open countryside;
4. The Green belt protects the landscape, particularly where the Green belt land is topographically elevated and hence where built development will be particularly dominant.
