Building on green belt land in Sutton near Macclesfield should not be allowed when there are numerous brownfield sites in Macclesfield itself that could be utilised without destroying valuable agricultural land and wildlife habitats. The proposed development area is a nesting area for geese, any development would be severely detrimental to the ecosystem around the canal. Local amenities are already too stretched, the Sutton area would need extra school places and road improvements which are not part of the plans.
