The land put forward either side of Brookledge Lane in Adlington fulfils all of the reasons to keep Greenbelt as listed above and therefore is not suitable for housing. It also provides productive agricultural land, assisting food security and helps provide a wildlife corridor from the Peak District to the Cheshire Plains.

Macclesfield is a town desperate for regeneration, with sites for accommodation right in the centre where old stores have closed. I.e. M&S. It has the infrastructure, train station, bus station, shops, restaurants, medical centre etc. Why let it further decline by potentially building on our precious greenbelt.

As Crewe has the main rail connectivity and is about to build a new hospital it seems to be better placed to meet the needs of increased housing.

An assesment has already been carried out for the site offered up in Adlington either side of Brookledge Lane and it shows clearly that the infrastructure is not available to support additional housing in this area. Transport links are not sufficient, there are not enough school places, GP surgeries, the hospitals in Macclesfield and Stockport are already stretched and water and sewage facilites are limited. These are the reasons the new town proposal was deprioritized.

Protecting the greenbelt helps to fulfil these priorities. Whereas building on it only increases the loss of habitat for wildlife, increasing flood risk and loss of biodiversity.
