One of the proposed sites for Alsager is land to the East of Fanny's Croft. This is Greenbelt land used consistently by dog walkers, walkers, walking groups and cyclists. Regarding the Green Belt Policy there is NOT a shortfall of new homes in Alsager - it has been developed extensively and the town is now saturated with new builds without any increase in infrastructure like GP surgeries and schools. There is NOT a shortfall in business space, for example there are multiple empty warehouse units off Crewe Road which are new builds and currently still empty and unused.

With regards one of the sites highlighted for Alsager there are major concerns around the access: the area is Land East of Fanny's Croft, Alsager. This area would be accessed via Audley Road which has several, on-going issues including: recent sink hole formation (the third sink hole formed in 4 years), concerns around drainage and sewer pipes (as highlighted by United Utilities July 2026), on-going concerns with speeding which has resulted in Alsager Town Council and the local Police calling for an assessment for speed management. This road is totally unsuitable and unable to take any more heavy traffic
