Local plan scoping consultation

The Scoping Consultation must contain specific questions on traffic management. And new road infrastructure. Cheshire East is expected to provide 3600 dwellings annually during the next years up to 2030. There has been no transport planning of any significance to date.

Every single purpose of the new Local Plan has traffic creation implications, cars,vans, general lorry transport, specialist transport like waste collection, new/ second/hand car transport.
Cars are getting larger in an unregulated manner, lorries are getting taller. Any road disruption around the M6 in Cheshire East causes absolute havoc. Plans must include serious ameliorations to this situation.

The assessment of the need for Gypsy and Traveller sites in Cheshire East should be completed as soon as possible.
Choice nearly always meets local opposition so strong integrative policies must be invested in to ensure the sites are conveniently placed with appropriate numbers at each site, near general facilities in particular schools and shops.

So called brownfield (previously developed) land is everyone's (outside developers )favorite solution to more housing etc.
But it is often expensive to develop, due to contamination, costs of demolition and awkwardness of site allocation in already congested urban areas or inappropriate isolation in rural areas. Also in rural areas you get arguments that because there is an isolated bus stop with a service twice a week you have 'sustainability'.
Again the argument you can develop around isolated railway stations with very limited capacity on main lines designed for express through travel ignores all the practical aspects of effective railway timetabling unless you have an additional dedicated line for local travel. Who is going to pay for that?
