Local plan scoping consultation

I object to further housing development in and around Haslington. The village has already experienced substantial growth, including significant development since 2021. As a parish councillor I am constantly asked by residents why are builders building the wrong type of houses. Lots of elderly residents want to stay in the community that they have grown up in and all they want to do is down size. Unfortunately there are no bungalows being built, in the past 5 years over 600 houses have been built in the parish and this has included less than 10 bungalows . The local infrastructure, schools, GPs,Dentists , road conditions , water supply and condition of the waterpipe network etc need a proper assessment. Traffic assessments must reflect real conditions on Crewe Road and Crewe Green Roundabout. New development should not increase flood risk and must protect green spaces, wildlife and countryside. Suitable brownfield land should be prioritised, with infrastructure provided alongside, rather than after, further housing growth. There are defined open spaces between villages in the Parish which make each village unique and we need to keep. Haslington Parish wants to stand alone and not join Crewe at Crewe Green . If the council talk to residents and engage in a constructive consultation then a positive outcome for all may be achieved.
