In Knutsford, the recent plan was to build 900+ homes, some have been completed. Yet, this small historic town's infrastructure cannot cope with additional traffic. Its outdated GP surgeries are at capacity and structurally not fit-for-purpose. A proposed business park on Manchester Road has been shelved. Where are the employment provisions?

One would assume that the main purpose for building more new homes in the UK is to address the problem of a lack of affordable first homes for young people, as well as to accommodate young families, split families and older people downsizing. In Cheshire East, I have noticed predominately large 3-5 bedroom homes built for a certain strata of society. So what exactly is the council's strategy? What are the requirements for property developers to make homes energy efficient (solar), insulated, etc to ease the burden of ever-rising energy costs?

'The priority remains to move waste higher up the waste hierarchy by increasing recycling, composting and other recovery methods...' However, in Knutsford, we have dealt with several missed bin collections this past year, with one episode taking over a month to collect the recyling bin. Lack of workers has been the usual excuse so what is CE council doing to improve recruitment and retention of waste management staff?

With increased traffic comes increased numbers of cars sitting idle and emitting carbon monoxide particulates and soot which impacts residents and pedestrians on those roads. Is there any consideration for by-passes to avoid congestion in small town centres?

This is critical in light of geo-politics negatively impacting people's ability to afford energy. The nation should focus on both energy and food security so a move toward sustainable energy in multiple forms would be welcome as we decrease our dependency on gas and petrol.

Knutsford's current plan was for the building of 900+ houses, some of which have been completed. Yet, the lack of joined-up thinking with regards to increasing this number per annum is astounding. Our GPs and schools cannot accommodate hundreds of new families without expanding, our historic town centre is limited in parking, our roads are in a poor state which will become worse with increased traffic, our waste collection has been unreliable at times - so where will CE council get the money to improve infrastructure? Why build more homes in an already saturated historic area?
