First Draft Local List Supplementary Planning Document

Representation ID: 27

Received: 10/06/2025

Respondent: Mrs Sylvia Chaplin

Representation Summary:

9.2 Contemporary buildings are mentioned under Residential. Contemporary buildings applauded today can become candidates for demolition in the eyes of a later generation: the Brutalist Movement is a case in point. Would it be wise to state that for a contemporary building to be a candidate for listing it needs to have been in place for 10 or 15 years? That would offer a longer view to be taken of its significance and worth.
